The Breakup

If president Medvedev is making a conscious choice for “big” integration as opposed to the “sphere of exclusive interests”, then there is logic in his current actions. It is then a denial of post-Soviet integrationist initiatives that were caused by “phantom pains” from the collapse of USSR – and gave almost nothing; it is the beginning of cooperation with other countries in the name of notorious modernization. One can easily doubt the viability of that approach, but it has some underlying logic.
